Terms & Conditions
Welcome. These Terms & Conditions apply to all entries submitted to The Makers Prize. By entering, you agree to these terms.
1. Eligibility
To enter the Makers Prize, your business and product must meet all of the following:

UK-based: products must be made and sold in the UK.

Small batch: maximum of 10 employees.

Handmade: products must be crafted by you or your team.
-
Compliance & insurance: you must have CSPR (where required by law) in place and valid insurance (all products).

Ethical: we do not accept products made using animal testing.
2. Entry Fees & Payment

Entry fee is £45 per product.
-
You may submit more than one product per category.
-
Payment is required at the time of entry via Shopify Checkout.

Entry is confirmed once payment is received.

All entries are final for payment purposes: you may choose to withdraw from the competition at any time, but entry fees are non-refundable.

Submitted products, samples, and materials cannot be returned once received.
3. Product Submission & Liability
For each product entered, you must provide:

2 digital photographs of the product (must be original, non AI images)

3 product samples
-
A brief description (max 250 words) including inspiration, materials, process, story, weight, fragrance, texture, and any special features (e.g., exfoliating, soothing)
We will email full instructions after your order. All materials must be received before the entry closing date.
All entries must include the required product samples and photographs. Failure to provide these will void the entry, and entry fees will not be refunded.
Entrants are responsible for the safe delivery of their products. We recommend sending items via tracked service (e.g., Tracked 24 or Tracked 48).
4. Use of Images

By submitting photographs, you confirm you own them or have permission to use them.

We may use submitted images on our website, social media, newsletters and press releases.

You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use the images for these purposes.
5. Use of Winner Badge / Logo

Winners will receive a digital badge/logo to show they’ve won.
-
The badge can be used on websites, social media, and product packaging only for the product that won.
-
It cannot be modified, resold, or used for other products or purposes.
6. Liability

We take care with your entries, but cannot accept responsibility for lost, damaged, or delayed submissions in transit.

Judging decisions are final. We cannot be held liable for disputes over results or scoring.
7. Event / Showcase Participation

If there is an online or in-person showcase of winners, participation is optional.
-
Attendance is not mandatory to claim the award or use the winner badge.
8. Judging & Results

Entries are evaluated by a jury of makers, customers, and craft enthusiasts.
-
Judging criteria include: craftsmanship, creativity, originality, and integrity of production.
-
All decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding judging outcomes.
9. Cancellations & Changes
-
Entry fees are non-refundable.
-
We may amend categories, judging panels, or dates if necessary.
-
Entrants will be notified of significant changes.
- You have the right to withdraw your Entry[s] at any point - fees are nonrefundable and submitted samples are non-returnable.
10. Governing Law
-
These Terms & Conditions are governed by Scottish law.
-
Any disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
